Cabin Safety Senior Design Engineer (CVE)

Aerospace Engineering Solutions is looking for an experienced Cabin Safety Senior Design Engineer (CVE) to join our cabin interiors, structures and avionic system teams in the UK and Spain.

The main responsibilities is to deliver airworthiness and certification deliverables:

  • Prepare design and check engineering data IAW companies design procedures.
  • Provide certification expertise and supporting documentation delivery as an active part of ensuring the final design be fully compliant with requisite certification and airworthiness requirements.
  • Define, progress and facilitate test and analysis in support of compliance verification with relevant parties.
  • Attend design and project meetings to provide the airworthiness and certification inputs and progress reports.
  • Facilitate compliance verification and design approval of completed changes.
  • Liaison with Customers to maintain a good working relationship throughout the lifecycle projects.
  • When appropriate and approved to do so by head of Design, undertake independent Compliance Verification in accordance with EASA requirements.
  • Review reported failures, malfunction and defects that may affect the airworthiness of in-service aircraft and determine necessary action.
  • Resolve engineering problems associated with aircraft cabin interior and interfaced areas affected by other panels (structure and/or avionic/electrical systems.
  • Maintain technical competency and currency to be fully effective in the role.
  • Helping develop competency of the other team members as required.
  • Modifications to aircraft cabin including LOPA, Emergency Equipment, Galley & other monument installation, plus other cabin-based installations.
  • Preparation and verification of flammability test plans and reports, compliance reports, System Safety Analysis, Ground Test plans.
  • Preparation and verification for EASA STC including PSCP, OSD, Compliance reports, ICA, AFM supplements, Cabin Walkthrough.

Education, Qualifications or Training:

  • Aeronautical or equivalent degree.
  • Equivalent experience with another professional qualification may be considered.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of FAR/JAR/CS 25 and 23 Certification Specifications.
  • Working knowledge of EASA Part 21 processes and practices.
  • Sound understanding of Boeing and Airbus aircraft systems.
  • Understanding and ability to navigate through airframe manufacturers online systems including MyBoeingFleet and AirbusWorld.
  • A broad engineering knowledge of aircraft airframe, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Good working knowledge and well-practised in compliance findings with certification codes.
  • Equipment qualification processes and related standards, (civil and / or equivalent military requirements).
  • High level on Autocad LT – 2D modelling.
  • Competent level on 3D modelling software (Solidworks/Catia) – ideal.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload in a dynamic business environment.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to assess evidence and develop conclusions based on that evidence in a logical and structured fashion.
  • High level on Microsoft Office 365 package.

Experience:

  • Extensive industry related experience in 21J aircraft/rotorcraft.
  • Min 5 years Part 21J Design integration, experience on aircraft/rotorcraft. Cabin interiors projects such as LOPA changes, refurbishments, liveries, monument changes, IFE & ISPSS modifications and interior repairs.
  • Previous experience as a CVE, or sufficient experience to achieve this role within a short period.
  • A high level of attention to detail and professional integrity.
  • Experience of design & certification for single file aircraft.
  • Knowledge and experience of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
  • Working knowledge of FAR/JAR/CS 27 and 29 certification specifications.
